International Ambassador Liaison Officer Robert Farrell

I have been involved with the Farrell Clan from the first meeting in the Annaly Hotel and was honoured to be elected Chairman of the organising committee for our first Clan Rally in 1993. Eight rallies later I have many happy memories of all the wonderful people I have met and the exciting adventures we have had together. The highlight for me has been the friendships that I have made which have endured the years but this has been tinged with sadness for the loss of good friends who are sadly no longer with us.

It was always inevitable that I would be involved. My late Father Bob was born in Aughaneaspic, Moydow in the Parish of Ardagh on lands that were part of the Farrell stronghold of Mornine Castle. Three of my Great Grandparents bore the name of Farrell.

John Farrell from Cloonmorris married Winifred from Aughaneaspic and were my Paternal Great Grandparents. My Maternal Great Grand Mother was Eliza Farrell from Lehery, Rahcline another stronghold of the Farrell Clan.

I have spent most of my working life as a Farmer and I am currently farming organically at Clondra, where the Royal Canal meets the majestic River Shannon. My wife Kathleen and I reside in Corboy, a short distance from Moatfarrell, the traditional inauguration site of the Farrell Chieftain. Kathleen is the Secretary of the Clan and is busy preparing for our next Clan gathering as well as spoiling me.

I enjoy keeping in touch with our Farrell friends around the World on Facebook.
