I was raised in the Chicago Area, went to a small Catholic University in South Bend, Indiana. I joined the United States Army as an enlisted man, and after 33 years of active service I retired as a Lieutenant Colonel. I am an Irish Historian, and have taught classes and given lectures about our Ireland, at the University level. I have written a few books, and published several articles in National Magazines, here in the US.
I am the world’s largest collector of Irish Banknotes and Coins since the beginning of the Free State of Ireland in 1928.
I have studied and researched my family’s history (the past 50 years) through the annals of time to my 49th ggf, Fiachadh, King of Ulster 74-120 AD .
I don’t think of myself as anyone special, I am and will always be just an ordinary man, a married man, wife Teresa; just a family man, a father with five children, Meghan (Lawyer), Michael (Teacher),Rebecca (Teacher),Kathleen (Doctor), and Elizabeth (Nurse), and a Grandfather with 8 wonderful grandchildren.
I always try to find the good in people, I am kind and generous to others, and loyal to my friends and family.I expect and require that others treat me the same as I would treat them, as for those that do not I will not tolerate.
My family has roots in several counties in Ireland. Mostly from, Mayo, Galway, Clare and Kerry.
Having traveled throughout Ireland these past 50 years,
there are very few roads I have not traveled upon. However, each return, continues to draw new adventures to me when I am there. I have returned with both family and friends.
I have been a Clan Member for a number of years having been approved by C O’Ferrall, a few years ago.
